Wealth and Practical Philosophy A talk by David Triggs
In this talk David will explore the nature of wealth, its production and distribution in our world and how these relate to current social, economic and environmental crises and to his search for the truth about himself and the world of which we are all a part. Drawing on his extensive experience in the water industry he will illustrate how the health, wealth and happiness of nations and individuals is influenced by the extent to which their behaviour is in harmony with the laws of nature. David’s focus in this talk arises out of the respect and admiration he has for the teachings of the man whose works inspired the founding of The School of Economic Science in 1936 - Henry George.
David has studied and tutored philosophy and economics in the school since he joined in 1963. As a Chartered Engineer and after post graduate studies at Imperial College and Henley Management College David’s professional career was devoted to the provision and management of public water services in the UK and throughout the world. David is currently Honorary President of the Henry George Foundation of Great Britain having been its Chairman from 2003 to 2019. He is also immediate Past President of The International Union for Land Value Taxation and Free Trade where he contributed at a number of United Nations conferences. David and his wife Gaynor, have two sons, four granddaughters and one grandson.
